I Listen to a wide variety of music: It has to have a beat and I must understand the lyrics without having to work at it. I sometimes am off the beaten path, especially if the lyrics are awesome.
Bands & Artists
1. Reckless Kelly
Wicked Twisted Road
I never did anything the easy way. I always believed you had to earn everything by yourself and anytime there was an easy way I turned left. I struggled and fought through issues and worked to improve and overcame them. I guess that is why I appreciate where I am at today. I feel fortunate that I get to be a principal and help as many young people as possible avoid those twisted roads and make their way ahead as easy as they will let me.
God Forsaken Town
I served flood duty on the Illinois and Mississippi River and when you put long hard days and nights in trying to save citizen`s property and land, then you get to understanding the mindset of these people. I believe this band captured the essence of the feelings of those who have ever suffered from the wrath of mother nature and refused to give in. We worked long hours to help our citizens and it sure was discouraging when we were sand bagging and it wouldn't quit raining on us.
2. Luke Bryan That's What Country Is
Growing up in what at the time was the smallest high school in the state of IL. I had 13 in my graduating class and 43 in the entire high school. I lived this song. I coon hunted, ran trotlines and bank poles, gigged frogs, swam in ponds, bailed hay, split wood by hand and was barefooted a lot of the time. Grandma made all food from scratch and it was awesome! Grandma and Grandpa had the best watermelon and mushmelon patch in the county. We drank a lot of sweet tea.
Country Girl Shake it for Me Loved the beat of this song. I always liked to dance, so you need a good beat.
I Don't Want this Night to End
Love this song! You got your hands up!
3. Nickelback
When We Stand Together
If only we would all try and stand together, instead of looking for a handout or for our best interests only. Let's focus on what is best for everyone and work together to make America stay strong.
Saving Me My wife took a chance on a rough man and she has taught me to be a better man. She helped me grow as a man. Thank you Terry!
I always wanted to be a high school principal after my principal took the time to redirect my life in the 6th grade. He had a dramatic effect on my life. Being from a small school, he was my principal from 5th to 12th grade. Thank you Mr. Morgan!
If Today was Your Last Day
Awesome message. Each day is a gift not a given right. Would you make your mark by mending a broken heart? Would you forgive your enemies? Don't take the free ride in your own life.
If Everyone Cared
If only! We'll keep working on it!
4. Sammy Kershaw
Love of my Life
This is the song my wife and I danced to at our wedding. She is the love of my life. I love being around her, as long as it does not include shopping. We knew it was right the first date. We talked all night and it was like nothing was going on around us. She is my soul mate.
5.Elvis
Way Down
I was a kid when Elvis died. I remember my mom and I stood in line somewhere in Indiana to get tickets, but they sold out before we got there and he ended up dying right before he was supposed to play the concert. The last song he had on the charts.

7. Garth Brooks
The Dance
I could have made some better choices in my life, but they would not have prepared me for where I am today. You never appreciate a good day, if you have never had a bad one. The experiences of the dance makes us who we are. There has been some things in my life I would love to erase, but not if they were part of the lessons I needed to experience in order to change and grow. I just ask for forgiveness for those I hurt during "The Dance." I hope I have exponentially helped more than I have hurt.

10. Queen
We are the Champions
I need to go on and on and on. You got to put the work in, if you are going to be good at what you do. I have always preached it and tried to set the example. My sons and daughter have seen me put long hard hours into whatever I was working on. Having two sons be state champions does not happen by chance, they have put the extra effort in. While others fall by the wayside and take time off, you just keep grinding away and increasing the gap between you and your competition. Never be satisfied with where you are, if you want to be the best. "Gold medals aren't really made of gold. They are made of sweat, determination and a hard to find alloy called guts." Dan Gable. If it is worth doing, then it is worth doing your best, because in the end your name is on the results. I have always asked my kids how will the results or your actions define you? Training is like wrestling a gorilla, you don't quit when you are tired you quit when the gorilla is tired.
